good times

Cosmos was really good. There were more people there than I've seen in quite a while and they actually stayed and listened to most of the set.

The gig at Rick's is set for Sept. 16th @ 8:00pm. Tickets are actually $6, so if you're interested let me know. Rick's is out in front of the Woodville mall in Northwood about 1/2 hour from BG on I-280.

We should have a couple more original songs ready soon. We did a test run last Thursday in the barn for a single track live take and it sounded pretty good. We'll hopefully have some more music posted to our myspace within the month.

We read Matthew last week and this week will be twice through Mark and I'm really enjoying the reading...it's been good to be disciplined. After reading Matthew last week I have many questions about the number of times Jesus said to those around him that whatever they ask for will be done here on earth. He said that to them what seemed like 4 or more times throughout the gospel and yet that doesn't describe my experience in life. We ask often and often we don't see it done as we ask. We are left with a list of reasons as to why that is...

1. I lack faith
2. I am praying for the wrong things
3. I am asking with wrong motives
4. Just as in His home town, He can't do much here because of our collective lack
of faith

We hear about miracles of biblical proportions happening all over the world, but few in the USA...we might be like Jesus' home town and keep Him from doing much here because of our lack of desperation...why would He step in and intervene when we really don't "need" Him. It could be that our own self reliance and independence have kept Him at arms length in dealing with us. In our own arrogance we call ourselves a "Christian nation", "God's blessed people", "God's country", etc...etc... while more than likely we are like the luke warm that he will spit out of His mouth.

Jesus, show us why we are so ineffective and powerless for You..."I do believe but help me overcome my unbelief!"Mk 9:24
Help us to live in the power you've given us, to realize this power inside us...give us insight to use and exercise it in the right way and in the right time.
